Management Board

President of the Polenergia S.A. Management Board
CEO (Chief Executive Officer)

  • He has nearly 25 years of experience in finance and banking, where he held key positions related to business development and management as well as financial operations.
  • From 2019 to 2023, he was the Vice-President of the Management Board of Bank Ochrony Środowiska.
  • He specializes in financing green investments, with a particular focus on renewable energy sources.

Management Board

  • He graduated from the Higher School of Commerce and Law (now Lazarski University) and MBA studies at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, conducted in cooperation with the Warsaw School of Economics.
  • He started his career at the National Bank of Poland as an associate of Prof. Leszek Balcerowicz.
  • He specializes in business transformations, in particular building strategies aimed at increasing value, managing the implementation of key growth factors, changing business models, building financing, crisis management, as well as building and developing teams.
  • He gained experience in European companies operating in various industries.

Member of the Management Board of Polenergia S.A.

  • One of the few Polish women managing electric power sector companies. Iwona has been active in the power industry for over 21 years. For a number of years, Sierżęga held the position of Financial Director and subsequently served as the President of the Management Board and Director General of 116 MW Nowa Sarzyna CHP plant, which is owned by the Polenergia Group. In 2019, Sierżęga was appointed a Member of the Management Board of Polenergia S.A., supervising the Clean Fuel and Environmental Protection Division, where new hydrogen projects are developed and activities for the sake of sustainable business development are carried out.
  • As the second woman in history she was awarded with the “White Tiger Laurel” of the Polish energy sector. She was included in the prestigious “100 Business Women” ranking organised by Puls Biznesu three times; Iwona was also nominated personality of the year in the category of efficient company management with simultaneous focus on broadly understood social activities.
  • Since September 2020, Iwona has been a member of the Programme Council of Global Compact Network Poland, focusing on priority areas of United Nations Global Compact, such as human rights, environmental protection, employee rights and fight with corruption.
  • Graduate of the Cracow University of Economics in finance and banking, postgraduate studies in accounting and an MBA from Stockholm University of Business.

Member of the Management Board of Polenergia S.A., COO

  • Chief Operating Officer in the Polenergia Group since 2016, responsible for running, maintaining and operating all operating projects. Between 2008 and 2016,
  • Maciołek was responsible for development and operation of industrial and conventional power engineering projects in the Polenergia Group and the PEP Group. Between 2004 and 2008, he handled finances of the largest biomass industrial power engineering project implemented by the PEP Group at the Mondi Świecie paper mill. Maciołek has extensive operating experience acquired in such companies as Telekomunikacja Polska, Sony Music Entertainment Polska and Master Foods Polska.
  • Graduate of the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw. In 2001, he received the MBA title from the University of Minnesota under the WEMBA programme run by the SGH Warsaw School of Economics and the University of Minnesota.

Supervisory Board

She got a Master Degree in sinology at the Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures and in political science at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. She was educated in Shanghai, Beijing, at the Rockefeller Foundation and the Bertelsmann Foundation. She has a many-year experience of working at statutory bodies of commercial law companies. Since 2013 a member of the Supervisory Board of Kulczyk Investments, in the years 2015–2018 the Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of KI. The co-founder of the Values Consulting Group which conducts training on business psychology. In 2013–2016 the Vice-President of the Polish Olympic Committee. The initiator of the Polish branch of the Green Cross International. The originator and co-founder of the Kulczyk Foundation, a non-profit organisation providing aid in Poland and in the world. She is a member of the Board of the UN Global Compact Poland and the Ambassador of the SOS Children’s Villages in Poland. She is a member of Young Leaders for Tomorrow, a global initiative of young leaders. The Dame of the Order of the Smile.

Tom O’Brien is a Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield’s Renewable Power Group, responsible for leading and developing the European business.

Mr. O’Brien joined Brookfield in 2014, following the acquisition of Bord Gaís Energy’s Irish renewable power business and has since held a number of roles across the organization, most recently acting as Chief Financial Officer for the European renewable power business. Prior to joining Brookfield, Mr. O’Brien held senior commercial and financial roles across several organizations. Mr. O’Brien is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Szymon Adamczyk is a graduate of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. He also completed postgraduate studies in management at the University of Economics in Katowice.

He started his professional career in 1992 in a company operating in the steel industry. Between 2000-2002 he was involved in the gas station construction industry in Poland. From 2002 to 2023, he developed, managed and supervised Alumetal SA, a company specializing in scrap recycling and production of aluminium alloys, primarily for the automotive industry.

Since 2018, he was or has been a member of the Supervisory Boards of many industrial companies, among others, in the recycling and metal production, agricultural, infrastructure and renewable energy sectors, including Polenergia S.A., Torpol S.A., U_Cont Sp. z o. o., Alumetal S.A., Feerum S.A..

He provides extensive advisory services to companies from the aluminium recycling and steel industry sectors.

During 1997-2002 Orest Nazaruk has been working for Arthur Andersen Company, auditing financial statements of banks and insurance companies and providing restructuring advisory services for companies from oil, gas and energy sectors. After that, during 2002-2004 he has been working in the Ministry of State Treasury as a Deputy Director in Restructuring and Public Aid Department being responsible for restructuring programmes preparation and supervision over state-owned oil, gas and energy companies. During 2004-2006 Orest Nazaruk took part in establishing independent gas Transmission System Operator Gaz-System and has been a member of its first management board responsible for finance and trade. During next years – 2006-2015 – he has been working as a member of management boards of companies: Selbud Inwestycje, PGNiG Energia and PGNiG Technologie as a restructuring process advisor. He was a member of numerous supervisory boards of oil, gas and energy companies (Towarowa Giełda Energii, Anwil, PKN Orlen, Mazowiecka Spółka Gazownictwa, Elektrociepłownia Stalowa Wola).

Orest Nazaruk has graduated from Warsaw University – Faculty of Management, with the risk management on futures market specialization. He has attended numerous international trainings on International Accounting Standards, strategic management, restructuring programmes and risk management on futures market in gas and energy.

Ignacio Paz-Ares Aldanondo is a senior vice-president in Brookfield’s Renewable Energy Group, leading the team responsible for investment origination, analysis and execution across Europe. Mr. Paz-Ares Aldanondo joined Brookfield in 2015 and has held a number of investment roles in Brookfield’s Renewable Energy Group in Europe. He has held his current role since 2019. Prior to joining Brookfield, Mr. Paz-Ares was an investment banking analyst at Citi. Mr. Paz-Ares Aldanondo holds a law and business studies degree from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid.

Emmanuelle Rouchel has over 20 years of experience as legal counsel. She joined Brookfield in 2015 and is a Senior Vice-President and General Counsel for Brookfield´s European Renewable Power Group. Prior to joining Brookfield, Ms. Rouchel was a senior legal counsel in the international upstream oil & gas sector. She started her career at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, where she focused on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions.

She holds post-graduate law degrees from Columbia University, where she was a Fulbright scholar and a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar, and from Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas, as well as a graduate business degree from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP). She is an English solicitor and is also admitted to the Bar in New York and Paris.

Professor Krzysztof Obłój is a university teacher at the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw and at the Kozminski University. He has been a lecturer at international business schools, including the American Yale University, The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Central Connecticut State University, Duquesne University, the Chinese Sun-Yat Sen University, the Norwegian Norvegian School of Management and Bodo Graduate School of Management, the French ESCP-EAP and Ecole Nationale des Pont et Chaussees, the British Henley Bussiness School and the Slovenian Bled School of Management. One of the world’s most widely cited management specialists. He has extensive practical experience. He was the chairman and a member of supervisory boards of, among others, Orlen, Dwory SA, PZU SA, Agora SA, Eurobank SA, Alior Bank SA, IMPEL SA, AMBRA SA, Polmos Lublin SA, Prochem SA. He is an advisor to Polish and foreign companies.

Jacek Głowacki was the President of the Management Board of Polenergia Nowa Sarzyna CHP Plant in 2001-2010 and 2019-2024. He was the President of the Management Board of Polenergia S.A., Managing Director, Member of the Management Board of Polenergia Holding S.àr.l and Polenergia International S.àr.l. in 2011-2019. In 2001, he was appointed General Director of Business Development at Prisma Energy – the company that acquired the Nowa Sarzyna CHP Plant (ENS). In 2006, after the acquisition of ENS by Ashmore Energy, he became the Vice President of the corporation for Central and Eastern Europe. One of the key experts supervising the liberalization of the energy sector in Poland. VicePresident of the Subcarpathian Hydrogen Valley, involved in the development of the green hydrogen production sector. A graduate of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, he also holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago.
