Polenergia starts cooperation with the University of Gdańsk

Polenergia continues contributing to sustainable development in the academic community. The aim of the company’s agreement signed with the University of Gdańsk is the transfer of knowledge as well as the realization of actions supporting the implementation of a sustainable EU economy. The cooperation agreement was signed by prof. Krzysztof Bielawski, DSc, Vice-Rector of the University of Gdańsk for Innovation and Cooperation with the Social and Economic Environment as well as by Iwona Sierżęga, representative of the Management Board of Polenergia.

Implementing its mission of a socially engaged university, the University of Gdańsk undertakes various forms of cooperation with the socio-economic environment in order to be able to respond to the challenges of the modern world, especially those resulting from the problems of globalization, the impending climate catastrophe and shrinking raw material resources.

By conducting research and education in the areas related to these issues, the university plays the role of a bridge between science and business. It supports the development of new technologies and solutions that meet the challenges and demands of the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda. The cooperation with Polenergia is another step towards training staff for the economy of the future, based on renewable energy sources, attaining the mission of caring for our planet.

As part of the contract, there were funds transferred to finance two places for women who want to take up postgraduate studies organized by the Center for Sustainable Development of the University of Gdańsk.

Polenergia focuses on women, therefore, as part of equal opportunities promotion, we fund two postgraduate studies scholarships for female residents of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. With the University of Gdańsk we will educate future employees of the energy sector, promote equal opportunities, use the potential of diversity, and work together for innovative research and projects.

Iwona Sierżęga

member of the Management Board of the Polenergia Group

The activities undertaken by the Center for Sustainable Development of the University of Gdańsk effectively combine science with business and meet the current economic needs of not only Pomerania, but the entire Polish economy.

It is important for us that the study program meets the needs of administration and business participating in the development of a new sector of the Polish economy. Therefore, cooperation with companies operating in the new energy sector, which strive for sustainable development and take into account the principles of corporate social responsibility in their activities, is of key importance for the Center. - adds Dr. Sylwia Mrozowska, Prof. UG, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at the University of Gdansk.
