In implementing our projects, we always take care to minimize environmental impacts and support residents. Together with municipalities and our business partners, we implement a series of tree and shrub plantings, in the municipalities where our investments are located.
These activities are aimed not only at supporting the natural environment, but also at creating common spaces for local communities, which serve to increase integration and strengthen human ties. As a result, residents become more aware of the important role the environment plays in their lives and how valuable the ecosystems near where they live are. It is not only local communities that benefit from these activities. Our projects are extremely valuable for local animal species. They receive not only additional shelter and breeding sites, but also a source of food.
Our first spring initiative in 2021 was the plantings carried out in April this year on the occasion of International Earth Day. Trees and shrubs appeared in a park on Lidzbarska Street in the Żuromin municipality, where we are currently constructing the Debsk Wind Farm.
The park in Żuromin has been enriched with 135 trees and shrubs, such as a dogwood, yarrow, forsythia, bladderwort, ornamental apple tree and Swedish rowan. Bird species that gained shelter and food thanks to our plantings include the blackbird, song thrush, woodpigeon, wood warbler, thick-billed warbler, quack, pipits, tits and mistletoes.
Plantings also took place in May in the Miłoradz municipality, where our FWSzymankowo farm is located. We made plantings of, among others: brilliant rudbeckia, or amanogava cherry by the square in Kończewice. In Gnojewo, on the other hand, by the monument to the victims of Stalag, there appeared, among others, catnip fassena and golden tiara funkia. In addition, we installed a box for beneficial insects there. The box, otherwise known as a hotel, is used to create conditions for their existence and reproduction. It is also an activity that increases biodiversity: these insects pollinate crops and help in the biological control of plant pests.
All planting locations are always agreed upon with municipalities, while trees and shrubs are selected by naturalists to best suit the species of birds found locally and provide them with suitable food.
