Szymankowo Wind Farm is ready

The 11 wind turbines were erected in Miłoradz Municipality, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in just 16 months. These are some of the largest turbines in Poland, as the height from the ground to the highest point of the blades is as much as 200 metres. Using wind energy, Szymankowo WF will generate over 120 GWh of clean electricity per year, which means that as many as 60,000 households could potentially be supplied with power from this plant. Over the next 30 years, generation of zero emission energy will exceed 3,600 GWh and our environment will avoid emitting more than 3 million tonnes of harmful CO2 into the atmosphere. It is worth using the potential of free wind and generating as much clean energy as possible.

Construction began in March 2020 and it was completed in February 2021. The works included the construction of foundations with a diameter of 20 metres. 70 tonnes of reinforcement and 530 m3 of concrete were used for the foundations of each turbine. GSG Towers from the factory in Gdańsk were set up. The turbines were supplied by Siemens Gamesa. Tower installation was divided into two stages. First, a crane assembled the first tower sections, and then the main crane installed the next four tower sections, the nacelle and the three blades separately.

The project is financed from Polenergia’s own funds and from a bank loan from EBRD, mBank S.A. and ING Polska.

Szymankowo WF responds to the needs of the local community by engaging in local activities.

The company who constructed Szymankowo Wind Farm is also involved in charitable activities and support for the local community. Such activities include the financing of publication of the book “To my Kończewice”, financing of renovation of a municipality road and construction of a green square to commemorate the victims of the Gnojewo Stalag.

Education is embeded in Polenergia Group’s CSR Strategy as part of its charitable activity. Local support and cooperation form an integral part of the project. The Group wants to be perceived as more than just an investor, which is why it listens to the needs of the local community and gets involved in local initiatives.
