Polenergia a signatory to the Sectoral Agreement on Offshore Wind Energy Development in Poland

This is the world's second Sectoral Agreement between representatives of government, investors, entrepreneurs interested in creating a local supply chain, academic and research entities and other industry players.

The signing ceremony was hosted by the Ministry of Climate and Environment.

The aim of the Agreement is to maximise the participation of local content in the supply chain in the construction of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. The parties to the Agreement recognised OWE as an economically competitive technology that creates a civilisational opportunity for society and is a key element in Poland’s economic transformation.

"For a decade, Polenergia has been an active promoter of offshore wind energy in Poland and one of the leaders of the domestic market. We were also involved in the preparation of the Sectoral Agreement from the beginning - as one of its initiators and leaders of the Stakeholder Dialogue Working Group. The good energy we all feel today will allow for the smooth and full implementation of the Agreement's provisions, and this will translate into a significant acceleration of the development of offshore wind farm projects. All signatories are well aware that the sooner and more fully the Polish offshore wind energy sector can be developed, the sooner and at a lower cost it will be possible to integrate new, large, stable and non-emitting energy sources into the Polish energy system. And this is, after all, in the interest not only of Polenergia, but of the entire country. " - Underlines Maciej Stryjecki, Director of the Offshore Wind Farms Department at Polenergia Group.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was preceded by more than a year of cooperation between industry stakeholders, who worked out assumptions for the further development of SHP in Poland in six competence areas. These areas are reflected in the adopted strategic objectives and include assumptions for the development of personnel and the education system, R&D, the development of Polish industry and the participation of Polish enterprises, port hinterland logistics and the impact on coastal regions, public education and stakeholder cooperation.
