Winners of the First Edition of Polenergia’s Family Academy of Renewable Energy Facts Competition Announced

More than 150 submissions, dozens of engaged families, and meaningful conversations based on facts about renewable energy sources—this is what the first edition of the Family Academy of Renewable Energy Facts competition looked like. The initiative was organised by Polenergia as part of its educational programme Play Green with Us!®, in partnership with the Ogarnij Inżynierię Foundation and MATERIALITY. The awards ceremony took place on 16 June at the Żuromin Cultural Centre.

Fact-Based Renewable Energy Education

The Family Academy of Renewable Energy Facts competition was created by Polenergia in collaboration with the Ogarnij Inżynierię Foundation and MATERIALITY to promote reliable, evidence-based knowledge about renewable energy sources. Another key objective was to challenge common misconceptions surrounding renewable energy technologies, particularly wind farms and photovoltaic installations.

The competition invited students and their families from schools participating in Polenergia’s educational programme Play Green with Us!®. The submission deadline closed on 14 May, and the level of interest far exceeded the organisers’ expectations.

More Than 150 Entries in the First Edition

The competition attracted over 150 entries created by students together with their families. Participants were challenged to explore facts and myths about renewable energy and present them in an engaging and creative way.

Students in Years 1–3 prepared artwork in the form of comics or collages, while students in Years 4–8 created short educational videos (1.5–3 minutes long) presenting factual information related to a selected statement about renewable energy.

The submitted projects demonstrated that conversations about the energy transition can successfully engage entire families while inspiring shared learning about today’s environmental challenges. The entries reflected not only strong knowledge and factual accuracy but also creativity, artistic talent, and critical thinking.

At Polenergia, we believe that fact-based education is one of the most important drivers of the energy transition. The Family Academy of Renewable Energy Facts competition has shown that discussions about renewable energy can be both reliable and engaging while bringing entire families together around topics that matter.

Awards Ceremony at the Żuromin Cultural Centre

The official closing ceremony of the first edition took place on 16 June at the Żuromin Cultural Centre. The event brought together award winners, school representatives, organisers, and project partners. While many winners collected their awards in person, others joined the ceremony online.

Beyond celebrating the winners, the event highlighted the importance of environmental education and the value of fostering an informed understanding of renewable energy from an early age.
