Polenergia Wins Top Prize at the “ESG Eagles” Competition

Polenergia Group, the largest privately-owned energy group in Poland, has been awarded the top prize at the "ESG Eagles" competition. The company was recognized for its "outstanding" sustainability report and its efforts in promoting best practices. Marta Porzuczek, Director of Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development at Polenergia, accepted the award during a ceremonial gala held as part of the European Economic Congress in Katowice.

Polenergia received the ESG Eagle—one of the two main awards in the competition.

The competition jury highlighted that Polenergia’s report represents a significant step forward in fostering transparency and accountability in the energy sector while inspiring others to act for a sustainable future. They also commended the company’s dedication to promoting best practices and environmental stewardship.

Implementing sustainable development standards translates into better prospects for companies, enabling improved care for customers, employees, and the surrounding environment. Reporting is merely the culmination of tangible actions that lead to stronger financial performance. For energy groups, decarbonization—central to sustainable development—is especially crucial as they are the ones providing clean, green energy, thus enhancing competitiveness. Polenergia engages extensively in ESG initiatives, including preparing sustainability reports aligned with the CSRD standard, which will become mandatory for the company in the coming years. Despite this, Polenergia has already prepared its second report in compliance with these standards. The group also allocates 1% of its annual net profit to social engagement projects. In 2024 alone, it completed over 440 projects, contributing nearly PLN 3.2 million.

The “ESG Eagles” competition is an innovative platform to recognize companies’ achievements in ESG-related projects. The jury evaluates efforts in sustainable development and green transformation, as well as factors such as climate action, wage policies, tax practices, employee safety, and consumer rights. Organized by Rzeczpospolita, this year’s event marked the competition’s third edition, with the jury comprising representatives from the publication and leading ESG-focused expert organizations.
