The Szprotawa I Photovoltaic Farm is being developed by Polenergia Farma Wiatrowa Namysłów sp. z o.o. It is located within the municipalities of Szprotawa and Niegosławice in Żagań County, Lubusz Voivodeship. The project includes four photovoltaic installations with a total capacity of 47 MWp, along with the necessary technical infrastructure.
The Szprotawa II Photovoltaic Farm is being developed by Polenergia Farma Fotowoltaiczna 16 sp. z o.o. It is located in the Szprotawa municipality, also in Żagań County. The planned maximum capacity of the installation will be 20 MWp.
The commissioning of the FF Szprotawa complex is scheduled for the end of May 2025. The total farm capacity will reach 67 MWp, enabling the supply of green energy to approximately 35,000 households. This will help avoid emissions of up to 70,000 tons of CO2 annually, directly contributing to the achievement of the 13th Sustainable Development Goal – Climate Action.
In line with the Polenergia Group’s Biodiversity Strategy, two valuable biotopes made up of pebble and erratic boulder clusters were created within the FF Szprotawa complex in January 2025. These serve as suitable habitats for wild pollinators, reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals. Additionally, between March and April 2025, the farm area will be sown with a mix of native grass and flowering plant species.
Utilizing the space between photovoltaic panels by sowing native grasses and flowering plants is a key step in restoring degraded meadow ecosystems. These areas, previously used intensively for agricultural monocultures, will be transformed into a multi-hectare zone supporting biodiversity and pollinator populations. This initiative aligns with the 15th Sustainable Development Goal – Life on Land, promoting ecosystem conservation and the restoration of natural habitats.
The development of the FF Szprotawa complex is an example of harmoniously combining renewable energy growth with environmental protection. It will contribute to combating climate change and enhancing local biodiversity.
