First Semester of the Third Edition of Polenergia’s Educational Program Play Green with Us!® Completed

More than 70 educational institutions located near Polenergia Group’s projects worked for the climate during the first semester of the 2024/2025 school year. Teachers engaged over 2,000 students, who spent nearly 400 hours exploring ecological topics.

Teachers, children, and youth from primary schools and kindergartens participated in eco-lessons focused on climate protection and environmental care. Additionally, various activities for nature conservation were implemented, such as eco-competitions and school eco-projects.

The program includes lesson plans, known as eco-notebooks, based on four thematic blocks. The first block addresses waste segregation—“Smart waste advice”. The second, “We act with good energy”, covers the causes of climate change and highlights the importance of Renewable Energy Sources for our environment. The third focuses on water—“Water gives health”. The fourth invites students to protect biodiversity: “Nature Challenges! Biodiversity— Understand to Preserve!”

The Play Green with Us!® program is implemented in areas where Polenergia Group develops its projects. The program partners include Kulczyk Foundation, UNEP/GRID Warsaw, and the Academic Circle of the Nature Protection League at the University of Zielona Góra.

Polenergia aims to support educators in carrying out climate education tasks by providing materials, practical guidelines for conducting eco-lessons, funding eco-competitions and eco-projects, and supporting the Climate Reading initiative.

One of the program’s key objectives is to motivate students to take action, showing them that collective activities matter and that we all have an impact on our surroundings. Thanks to educators, this goal is being achieved, as teachers participating in Play Green with Us!® have demonstrated for the third consecutive year that joint efforts for our planet are possible. In the first semester of 2024/2025, teachers engaged over 2,000 students, conducting nearly 400 hours of classes based on the eco-scenarios of Play Green with Us!®.

The program once again proved to be an excellent environmental education tool. When combined with natural science and geography classes, it complemented the school curriculum perfectly.

As part of the program, teachers receive tools that allow them to introduce children and youth to climate crisis topics in an engaging and accessible way. Besides lesson plans, Play Green with Us!® includes various exercises, worksheets, and experiments that students can conduct at home or during school and kindergarten activities. Through play and interaction, young people not only gain knowledge but also develop critical thinking, teamwork, and responsibility skills.

The program is very interesting, meets students' expectations, and enriches their knowledge through participation in various experiments. It enjoys great interest among students and their parents. Additionally, we organize many eco-competitions, student discussions, and open ecology lessons for parents and teachers. We want to continue the program in the coming years.

Beyond eco-lessons, teachers also have the opportunity to organize eco-competitions and eco-projects, making student engagement even more practical. In the first semester, 15 eco-competitions were held, with Polenergia funding the prizes. Under teacher supervision, students completed 21 eco-projects in total.

It is also worth noting that schools encourage students to read books related to nature and the environment through the promotion of the Climate Reading initiative. 40 educational institutions promoted eco-friendly attitudes by setting up eco-reader corners and organizing collective readings of selected ecological books.

At Primary School in Bierkowo (Redzikowo Municipality, Photovoltaic Farm Strzelino area), a professional recording studio was established where students, parents, and guests can record audiobooks for younger children.

The program is very interesting, and in general, the topic of ecology and environmental protection is highly engaging for children. It allows for exciting lessons and encourages students to actively participate in these activities. I am very happy that this year the project has been expanded to include Biodiversity. I conducted two lessons on biodiversity using the forest ecosystem and trees as a home for many organisms as examples. The lessons went great. Biodiversity is amazing!
