Actions Taken to Promote Diversity and Equal Opportunities in 2024

At Polenergia, we believe that diversity and equal opportunities are the foundations for building stronger communities as well as more innovative and engaged teams. As a socially responsible organization, in 2024, we undertook a range of initiatives aimed at fostering equality within local communities and supporting diversity among our employees.

Actions for local communities

Polenergia collaborates with individuals and organizations working to support people with disabilities and the elderly. Details regarding active organizations operating in these areas are discussed during initial meetings with municipal authorities.

The initiatives carried out include support for:

  • Women’s Rural Circles (Koła Gospodyń Wiejskich, KGW) and associations that empower women,
  • Senior Clubs and organizations supporting elderly individuals,
  • Associations aiding people with disabilities and those in difficult life situations,
  • Social Welfare Homes.

SUPPORT FOR WOMEN’S RURAL CIRCLES AND ASSOCIATIONS EMPOWERING WOMEN

Polenergia addresses the needs of women’s organizations that work to activate local communities and themselves. Funding is provided, among other purposes, for equipping rural community centers managed by members of Women’s Rural Circles. Financial support is also allocated to significant community events organized by KGW members, such as municipal Children’s Day celebrations, village festivals, and family picnics.

In 2024, Polenergia funded the activities of 24 Women’s Rural Circles.

Polenergia, in collaboration with the Kulczyk Foundation, also organized workshops in 2024 for women from the Żuromin municipality (near the Dębsk Wind Farm). These workshops took place at the Domino Effect Studio in Warsaw. During the sessions, women had the opportunity to learn effective methods for communicating social initiatives and to explore topics related to menopause, biological changes, and disease diagnostics.

SUPPORT FOR SENIOR CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS SUPPORTING THE ELDERLY

Polenergia actively participates in engaging elderly individuals, particularly those living in small towns. Thanks to Polenergia’s funding, seniors can participate in art workshops, sports activities, and excursions. Funding also supports the organization of significant events for seniors, such as Seniors’ Days, Senior Balls, and Christmas and Easter holiday gatherings.

In 2024, Polenergia provided support to 9 Senior Clubs.

SUPPORT FOR ASSOCIATIONS HELPING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND THOSE IN DIFFICULT LIFE SITUATIONS

Polenergia funded various events and initiatives for people with disabilities and individuals in difficult life situations. In 2024, these included:

  • A gold panning tournament for people with disabilities in Złotoryja, organized by the Animus Foundation (near the Łukaszów and Modlikowice Wind Farms),
  • A rehabilitation camp for beneficiaries of the “Siła Mam” Association,
  • A Paralympics event and regular initiatives by the “Szansa” Social Cooperative in Żuromin to assist people in challenging life circumstances.

In 2024, the Group funded 85 projects supporting people with disabilities and individuals in difficult life situations.

Actions for employees

POLENERGIA GROUP’S DIVERSITY, EQUALITY, AND INCLUSION POLICY

Polenergia recognizes diversity, equal treatment, and an inclusive organizational culture as strategic business priorities. These values are reflected in Polenergia Group’s Strategy and its ethical principles, which include respect for and support of human rights, adherence to labor standards such as respect and openness, environmental protection, and dialogue.

In 2024, the Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Policy of Polenergia Group was developed. Subsequently, consultations on the policy’s provisions were held with the Group’s employees. During these consultations, every employee had the opportunity to provide feedback or express concerns, either by name or anonymously.

Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Policy of the Polenergia Group was officially adopted on October 30, 2024.

CLIMATE READING: BOOKS ON DIVERSITY

The company libraries located in Warsaw and Nowa Sarzyna offices were expanded to include books on diversity. Originally established as part of the Climate Reading initiative, the libraries initially contained books on nature and climate. In 2024, their selection was broadened to include titles addressing diversity and equal opportunities.

MAMY MOC! EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEERING GRANT COMPETITION

In April 2024, Polenergia Group launched a new employee volunteering grant program called MAMY MOC! (WE HAVE THE POWER!).

Volunteers implemented seven projects to support social organizations, benefiting over 500 people in need!

The projects included organizing educational activities for children, developmental workshops for seniors, renovation work for people with disabilities, and cleaning the Liwiec River.

We can be proud of implementing so many projects. The employee volunteering program brings benefits on many levels. Apart from the support provided to project beneficiaries, volunteers gain personal satisfaction that translates into the well-being of the company’s employees.

Iwona Sierżęga

Management Board Member of Polenergia Group

Due to the high level of interest in the grant program, plans are in place to continue it in 2025. The program is described in more detail on the Group’s ESG website: In Polenergia WE HAVE THE POWER! – ESG Service

WEBINAR ON INCLUSIVE LANGUAGE

In June 2024, a webinar titled “Inclusive and Specific” was held for employees. The session explored concrete examples, scenarios, and common doubts. It addressed the importance of choosing words carefully and showing respect. It was emphasized that inclusive communication offers opportunities and invites reflection to support individuals vulnerable to discrimination.

The training was led by Ane Piżl, a partner of Polenergia Group who specializes in education on equality, diversity, and inclusive language. Ane is affiliated with the Anti-Discrimination Education Association and Amnesty International.

NOBLE GIFT AND LETTERS TO SANTA

In 2024, Polenergia employees once again engaged in supporting those in need during the Christmas season. Donations of food, textiles, and footwear were collected to prepare:

  • Gift packages for 11 seniors as part of the Letters to Santa campaign by the Saint Nicholas for Seniors Foundation;
  • Gift packages for 4 families as part of the Noble Gift initiative organized by the Spring Association.

The collection effort also served as an excellent opportunity to integrate Polenergia Group employees and foster teamwork.

Efforts to promote diversity and equal opportunities are an integral part of Polenergia’s mission. In 2024, we demonstrated that real change is possible through commitment, collaboration, and consistency. We are proud to have supported both our employees and local communities, creating an environment where diversity is seen as a strength and equal opportunity as the standard.

However, we understand that this is just the beginning. In the years ahead, we plan to continue our efforts to more effectively promote the values we hold dear and contribute to building a fairer world.
