Education and Culture Initiatives Implemented in 2025

In 2025, Polenergia implemented a number of educational projects aimed not only at knowledge transfer but also at shaping pro-environmental attitudes. Environmental and climate education plays an important role in building social responsibility and therefore constitutes one of the key priorities of the Polenergia Group.

  • Climate education through the implementation of the ecological project Play Green with Us!®,
  • cooperation with cultural centres in the organisation of workshops and other initiatives for children, young people and senior citizens,
  • patronage of specialised classes in upper secondary schools,
  • support for the organisation of important cultural events in municipalities,
  • substantive cooperation with educational institutions and support for the education of future professionals.

Climate Education – Implementation of the Ecological Project Play Green with Us!®

The Play Green with Us!® programme is designed to support teachers in organising environmentally themed classes for primary school students in grades 1–8. Teachers of older kindergarten groups may also use the eco lesson plans, adapting them to the level of their groups. Lessons based on Play Green with Us!® materials introduce young people, in an accessible and engaging manner, to issues related to broadly understood sustainable development. A detailed description of the programme is available on the website: Play Green with Us!® – ESG Service.

In June 2025, the third edition of Polenergia’s environmental education programme Play Green with Us!® came to an end. The programme has been implemented continuously since 2022. During its third edition, more than 80 primary schools and kindergartens located in areas where Polenergia develops its projects organised over 3,000 hours of eco-classes, with more than 15,000 students participating in Play Green with Us!® eco-lessons.

From the launch of the first edition of the programme in September 2022 to the conclusion of the third edition in June 2025, a total of 6,985 hours of eco-classes were delivered, benefiting 22,572 students.

Together with participating educational institutions, the Polenergia Group carried out numerous environmental initiatives aimed at raising awareness among students about climate change. Teachers delivered classes based on four thematic blocks of climate education. The first block addresses waste segregation issues – “Smart waste advice.” The second, “We act with good energy,” explains the causes of climate change and focuses on renewable energy sources and their importance for the environment. The third block introduces topics related to water (“Water gives health”), while the fourth encourages students to care for biodiversity – “Nature Challenges! Biodiversity – Learn to Protect It.”

In the 2025/2026 school year, the fourth edition of the Play Green with Us!® programme was launched, involving more than 80 educational institutions, including primary schools, kindergartens and cultural centres, working in cooperation with Polenergia. The programme is therefore implemented on a continuous basis, with Polenergia consistently supporting the development of pro-environmental and proactive attitudes in close cooperation with teachers.

As part of the Play Green with Us!® programme, each educational institution participating in a given edition may apply for funding to purchase prizes for the winners of environmental competitions organised by the institutions. Schools and kindergartens may also apply for funding for eco-projects, with project ideas proposed by teachers.

Thanks to the support of Polenergia, in the third year of the Play Green with Us! ® programme, educational institutions carried out over 50 eco-competitions and more than 50 eco-projects. As a result of the collaboration between Polenergia, teachers, and students, a variety of initiatives were created, including school gardens, flower meadows, irrigation systems, and sensory gardens. The institutions also used the provided funding to enhance the equipment of biology classrooms. Teachers emphasise that engaging young people and giving them a sense of agency significantly improves the effectiveness of climate protection activities.

In the municipality of Nowa Sarzyna, two schools opened azalea greenhouses as part of an eco-project, where seedlings of the unique yellow rhododendron (Rhododendron luteum, Pontic azalea) were planted. This initiative is the result of collaboration between local primary schools participating in Polenergia’s educational programme Play Green with Us!® The Azalea Project includes a range of educational activities, such as workshops for children and young people and environmental competitions as part of the Play Green with Us!® programme. For more details, please visit the website: Opening of Two Azalea Greenhouses as Part of the “Play Green with Us!®” Program – ESG Service.

Climate Reading Campaign

Schools and kindergartens participating in the Play Green with Us!® programme can join the Climate Reading campaign, which aims to encourage students to read, particularly books on nature and climate protection. In some schools, the campaign activities take place outdoors, while in others they are held in the school library or classrooms. Literary meetings are also organised as part of the initiative. As part of the Climate Reading campaign, Polenergia regularly provides funding for the purchase of books on nature and climate for the libraries of schools participating in the Play Green with Us!® programme.

The Climate Reading campaign promotes not only reading but also independent exploration of eco-friendly solutions and the development of pro-environmental attitudes. During the third edition of the Play Green with Us!® programme, over 2,000 new climate-related books were purchased for school libraries.

Nature Workshops

In May and June 2025, in cooperation with students from the University of Zielona Góra, Polenergia conducted 16 educational sessions on biodiversity under the initiative “Nature Trackers.” The workshops, titled “Birds of Agricultural and Urban Landscapes” and “Ecosystem in Your Hands,” were held in eight schools located in the municipality of Sulechów (within the area of the Sulechów Photovoltaic Farm project). Over 200 students from grades 1–8 participated in these sessions.

Bee Day with Polenergia

On 10 June 2025, Polenergia organised Bee Day at one of the Group’s photovoltaic farms located in the municipality of Sulechów. The event was held for the third time as part of the Play Green with Us!® educational programme, in celebration of International Bee Day. Approximately 80 students, accompanied by their teachers, from schools in Buków, Kalsk, Cigacice, Kije, and Sulechów (Sulechów municipality, area of the Sulechów Photovoltaic Farm) participated in the event.

The 2025 Bee Day combined learning with fun, giving participants the opportunity to understand the importance of bees for ecosystem functioning. It was also an occasion to expand knowledge about biodiversity and renewable energy sources. The programme included a variety of activities, such as workshops on entomology, renewable energy, and beekeeping. Bee Day in Sulechów was implemented within the Play Green with Us! ® educational programme, which Polenergia directs at schools and kindergartens to support the development of ecological awareness.

At No. 1 Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Nowa Sarzyna, students have the opportunity to explore new energy technologies, including hydrogen and renewable energy sources. The school’s location within the municipality, which also hosts Polenergia’s project – the Nowa Sarzyna Combined Heat and Power Plant (ENS) – provides a practical learning environment. Since 2023, Polenergia has supported the class by enhancing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in this area.

In 2025, two visits to the ENS facility were organised, during which students familiarised themselves with the plant’s operations. In addition, Polenergia specialists responsible for the development of renewable energy projects and energy storage systems delivered two lectures during the class’s visit to H2Poland Trade Fair, the largest hydrogen fair in Poland, held in April in Poznań. Seventeen students participated in substantive discussions, panels, and workshops. The trip to the fair was funded by Polenergia.

In 2024, Polenergia established a cooperation with the Technical and Vocational School Complex named after John Paul II in Żuromin. Since September 2024, this collaboration has been continuous and involves providing substantive support to students preparing for the profession of Renewable Energy Devices and Systems Technician. The class has also received financial support for the purchase of equipment necessary for conducting practical lessons.

In 2025, Polenergia specialists conducted four practical-theoretical sessions aimed at raising ecological awareness and promoting renewable energy sources among local communities. Agnieszka Sikorska-Pająk, the company’s OHS Manager worked with students to analyse the concept of OHS, its significance in the renewable energy sector, and the costs associated with workplace accidents. The sessions covered the required qualifications, training, and formal requirements needed to work in the renewable energy industry. OHS principles on construction sites and risk assessment during the operation of energy facilities were also discussed, including hazards associated with work at heights.

In the autumn, students attended a session focused on energy storage in various forms, including modern battery energy storage systems (BESS), molten salt thermal energy storage, and hydrogen storage. The sessions also introduced key concepts of the circular economy in energy production and the distributed energy model. Participants explored the challenges of adapting the transmission network to a dynamically changing energy generation structure, where local sources play an increasingly important role. Discussions also addressed how energy storage systems can stabilise the power grid, supporting its flexibility and operational safety.

As part of its sponsorship programme, Polenergia supports educational institutions in developing technical and ecological competencies, providing students with direct contact with professionals from the energy sector.

The Polenergia Group also responds to the needs of municipalities in organising key local events. As part of its financial support, the Group co-funds events such as harvest festivals, Family Day, Children’s Day, and other events important to local communities, with a particular focus on providing attractions for children.

Educational institutions participating in the Play Green with Us!® programme have the opportunity, during harvest festivals or other municipal events, to set up eco-stalls featuring educational and ecological games and competitions. Prizes for these competitions are provided by Polenergia.

In 2025, eco-stalls were organised by schools in the following locations: Żuromin, Żarów, Niegosławice, Rajgród, Grabowo, Płośnica, Pelplin, and Nowa Sarzyna. A video presenting the eco-stalls is available: Eco-stalls Play Green with Us! 2025

Educational Activities on Offshore Wind Energy

In the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 school years, the Polenergia Group, in cooperation with Equinor, implemented a proprietary educational project titled “One Sea, Many Benefits: Offshore Wind Energy in My Region”. More than 4,500 students from primary schools located in the rural municipalities of Ustka, Redzikowo, Łeba, and selected upper secondary schools in the Słupsk region participated in the project.

The next stage of the project, carried out in 2025, involved the preparation of ready-to-use lesson plans in the form of an educational workbook, “Baltic Sea: The Sea of Green Energy”, for primary schools. These materials provide teachers with a comprehensive toolkit to independently conduct inspiring lessons for each of the three age groups on offshore wind energy and the energy transition. The lesson plans are inspired by Polenergia’s proprietary Play Green with Us!®  programme.

Polenergia Group’s activities in the area of environmental education demonstrate how knowledge sharing and raising ecological awareness can have a tangible impact on communities. Engagement in discussions about the environment and climate not only contributes to sustainable development but also strengthens ties with local communities. We believe that such initiatives are valuable and contribute to jointly creating a better future.
