With the end of the 2024/2025 school year, the third edition of Polenergia's educational program Play Green with Us!® has also come to an end. Over 80 primary schools and kindergartens located where Polenergia develops its projects have organized over 3,000 hours of eco-activities. Over 15,000 students participated in eco-lessons Play Green with Us!® in the third edition of the program.
The idea behind the Play Green with Us!® program is to support teachers in organizing ecological classes for primary school students from grades 1 to 8. Teachers of older preschool groups also used eco scenarios, adapting them to the group’s level. Lessons based on Play Green with Us!® materials introduce young people to issues related to broadly understood sustainable development in an accessible and friendly way.
The program really surprised us positively. It's a great initiative that not only introduces students to the topic of ecology and renewable energy sources, but does it in an interesting, engaging and - most importantly - understandable way. The kids were delighted, because instead of "dry" theories we had fun, field games, team tasks and a lot of practical activities. It was obvious that topics such as saving energy or caring for the environment really caught their attention. And what's important for us as teachers - the students not only learned something, but also started to think more consciously about their daily impact on the planet. A great idea, great implementation and a huge plus for combining education with fun. We definitely recommend such projects - I hope there are more of them in schools!
In the third edition of the program, educators conducted classes based on four thematic blocks of climate education. The first one addresses the issue of waste segregation – “Sprytne rady na odpady”. The second one – “Działamy z energią” – describes the causes of climate change and focuses on Renewable Energy Sources and their importance for the environment.
The third one introduces all issues related to water (“Woda zdrowia doda”), while the fourth one encourages students to take care of biodiversity: “Przyrodnicze wyzwania! Bioróżnorodność – poznaj by zachować!” In total, in the 2024/2025 school year, over 3,000 hours based on the scenarios of Play Green with Us!® were conducted, with over 15,000 students participating.

In addition to conducting eco-classes, teachers also had the opportunity to implement their ideas by involving students in creating school eco-projects, as well as inviting them to participate in interesting eco-competitions.
Thanks to Polenergia’s support, in the third year of the Play Green with Us!® program, educational institutions implemented over 50 eco-competitions and over 50 eco-projects. As a result of cooperation between Polenergia, teachers and students, beautiful school gardens, flower meadows and sensory gardens were created. The institutions also used the funds provided to organize school irrigation and equip biology classrooms. Teachers emphasize that by activating young people and giving them agency, activities aimed at climate protection bring better results.
In our kindergarten, in May, as part of the Eco project, a kindergarten garden was established, which aims to implement pro-ecological attitudes among children. This is a place where children learn through action. Before preparing the garden, the children sowed seedlings in special pots so that they could later plant them in the school garden. Together with the teachers, the older children were happy to plant flowers, plants and seedlings for our new garden. They help with plant care and tidying up. Every day, a group of children is designated to look after and water the plants under the supervision of a teacher. By growing plants, the children become familiar with their development, structure and how to care for them. They also learn about teamwork and responsibility. Working in the garden, they can expand their knowledge through practice and observation, and they also learn about work related to plant breeding and cultivation. Thanks to care work, they begin to respect and understand nature. Children know that there are factors that support plant growth, such as soil, water or sunlight. Such activities have a positive effect on mental health, provide opportunity for rest and recreation.
At two schools in the Nowa Sarzyna commune, as part of an eco-project, azalea greenhouses were opened, in which seedlings of the unique yellow rhododendron (Pontian azalea) were planted. This is the result of cooperation between the communal primary schools, implementing the Polenergia educational program Play Green with Us!® The Azalea project includes, among others, educational activities – including workshops for childrexxn and youth and ecological competitions as part of the Play Green with Us!® program. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the details by reading: Opening of Two Azalea Greenhouses as Part of the “Play Green with Us!®” Program – ESG Service .
It is worth emphasizing that as part of the Play Green with Us!® program, educators encourage children and young people to reach for interesting books about nature and the environment, thus promoting the Climate Reading campaign. Thanks to the campaign, we combine not only the promotion of reaching for books, but also the search for interesting ecological solutions and the development of pro-environmental attitudes. During the third edition, over 2,000 new books for the climate were purchased for school libraries.
Climate reading aims to encourage students to reach for books, especially those related to nature and climate protection. A special reading corner was organized in the library with books purchased as part of the project Play Green with Us!® Students systematically use the purchased collection of books during breaks. In addition, during library classes, students of class III listened to a fragment of Małgorzata Kur's book "The Last Tree on Earth" purchased with the project's subsidy. The book shows a disturbing vision of the world after an ecological catastrophe. The novel carries not only an ecological message, but also emphasizes the value of friendship and family ties. In addition, the publications are also used during educational classes aimed at expanding the ecological awareness of our students.
In addition, together with students from the University of Zielona Góra, Polenergia carried out 16 didactic classes on biodiversity under the slogan “Nature Trackers” (“Tropiciele Przyrody”). Classes entitled “Birds of the agricultural and urban landscape” and “Ecosystem in your hand” were organized in eight schools located in the Sulechów commune (the area of the Sulechów Photovoltaic Farms), and were attended by over 200 students from grades 1-8.
In May, on the Sulechów Photovoltaic Farm we managed to organize the third Bee Day for almost 80 students from local Sulechów primary schools. The event, combining education and fun, was an opportunity to learn more about these insects useful for the ecosystem, as well as to expand knowledge about biodiversity and green energy. There was no shortage of attractions on site, including workshops on entomology, renewable energy and beekeeping. More about this event: Bee Day in Sulechów – ESG Service .
During the last two months of the school year, many important events for local communities took place, during which ecological educational activities were promoted as part of the educational program Play Green with Us!®. Volunteer teachers and students worked at the Play Green with Us!® eco stand in nine locations (during school and communal family picnics) in Wielki Łęck, Kuczbork-Osada, Kwilcz, Nowa Sarzyna, Pelplin, and Żuromin!
Thanks to eco-tasks and eco-quizzes offered by volunteers from primary schools to participants of municipal and school celebrations, eco-attitudes and eco-actions were promoted at eco-stands. The youngest participants had the opportunity, among other things, to build models of windmills and observe energy generation. Moreover, volunteers were able to shape their social skills.
Big applause to students and teachers for their active involvement in the interest of our Planet! It should be emphasized that it is thanks to the great commitment of educators and directors of educational institutions that we can implement the program Play Green with Us!®
We thank teachers and students for their trust, cooperation and great ideas!
