From April 6th 2024 until the end of June, employees of Polenergia competed and motivated each other in the sports challenge POWER UP! Their kilometers, steps, and even exercise time were converted by Polenergia into a donation of 30,000 PLN in support of the CukierAsy Association!
On July 4th, a ceremonial check presentation was held for CukierAsy, along with a meeting with the top athletes of this year’s edition. The event was graced by Mr. Mikołaj Illukowicz – President of the CukierAsy Association, Janek Bryczek, a beneficiary of the Association and representative of Sweet Poland, a football team made up of children and young people with type 1 diabetes.
Additionally, representatives from Polenergia’s Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Department were present, including Director Marta Porzuczek, Magdalena Głowacka Lorek, Agnieszka Łukasiak, and Monika Żywuszko-Białas. The Communications Department was represented by Jacek Kowalski, while the athletes were represented by Sławomir Myszka from Polenergia ENS, and Katarzyna Kuczyńska and Wojciech Małek from Polenergia Photovoltaics.
Nearly 220 Polenergia employees participated in the POWER UP! challenge, forming 20 teams.
The goal of the challenge was not only to support the Association but also to foster the healthy habit of daily physical activity. The “POWER UP!” challenge was designed in such a way that everyone could find the most suitable form of activity for themselves. Points could be earned on foot, such as by walking, running, or skiing; on wheels, such as by cycling, rollerblading, or using a scooter; or by exercising at the gym, at home, in the pool, or in a sports hall, for example, by playing tennis or volleyball. Thanks to this wide range of disciplines, the challenge quickly gained popularity.
During the three montrs held from April to June, we collectively circled the globe twice! Together, we burned calories equivalent to 60,475 tablespoons of Nutella. An impressive 82 participants developed the habit of daily physical activity and earned a bonus for 21 consecutive days of movement! Employees were also motivated to use eco-friendly transportation, saving over 4.6 tons of CO2 emissions in the process.
We thank and congratulate all the participants who joined this challenge, supporting the CukierAsy Association with their efforts. Their dedication, commitment, and hard work made the second edition of the POWER UP! sports challenge a tremendous success.
