Centre for people with disabilities powered by green energy

Poland's leading installer of photovoltaic systems, Polenergia Fotowoltaika, has donated a solar power station with a capacity of nearly 10 kWp to the Special Needs School and Education Centre in Huta, Mazowieckie Province. This is yet another donation made under the Good Power by Polenergia programme,

which involves providing free of charge power systems for various non-profit institutions in cooperation with the partners and suppliers of Polenergia Fotowoltaika. In previous editions of the programme, solar power plants have been installed for the Children’s Home run by the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Family of Mary in Warsaw, the Children’s Home of Mother Veronica in Siennica, the Children’s Home in Jasieniec Iłżecki Dolny or the Pegasus Animal Shelter.

This is the fifth power system donated under the Good Power by Polenergia programme. Our charity initiatives attract a lot of attention. We receive many applications from institutions that need support. We are constantly looking for new partners who will help us implement new projects. This time we have decided to help children with disabilities enrolled in the education centre in Huta.

The Special Needs School and Education Centre is located in the small town of Huta, about 150 kilometres from Warsaw, between Radom and Lublin. Currently 96 pupils are enrolled in the facility.

The kids will get a gift. A 10 kWp photovoltaic system is a really big deal. Last year we paid 36,000 PLN for electricity. Thanks to the power system donated by Polenergia, we will be able to cut down on our bills to a large extent. With the money saved on electricity bills we will be able to buy something else for the children, to do something good for them.

The photovoltaic system consists of 24 modules. The PV panels are installed on a ballast structure that was donated by BAKS, one of the largest manufacturers of support structures for PV systems. The correct functioning and safety of the entire system is ensured by an inverter donated by FoxESS, a leading manufacturer of photovoltaic inverters.

The installed capacity of nearly 10 kWp will produce more than 8.5 MWh of clean green energy per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 4 tonnes.

The investment will generate savings of around 200,000 PLN over the next 25 years. This is the period for which we design photovoltaic systems. We are proud that yet again we have been able to do something good and reduce the costs of operation for a facility that really needs it.

The Special Needs School and Education Centre in Huta, Mazowieckie Province, has also joined other educational institutions that participate in the “Graj z nami w zielone” (“Play Green with Us”) education programme, implemented by the Polenergia Group, the Kulczyk Foundation and UNEP/GRID-Warszawa. As part of the programme, the pupils can participate in special classes during which they can find out how wind and photovoltaic farms work and learn about the causes and effects of climate change.
