Gawłowice Wind Farm

The Gawłowice Wind Farm is located in Radzyń Chełmiński commune, Grudziądz county, Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship. The first stage of the project was commissioned in 2014 and the next one in the following year.

48.3 MW

power in 2015 after adding 3 new turbines

The Gawłowice Wind Farm comprises 18 Siemens SWT-2.3-108 wind turbines with the tower height of 115 m and rotor diameter of 108 m, substation, underground transmission line infrastructure and access roads to each turbine. In 2015, the farm was expanded by 3 further turbines of this type and, as a result, its capacity increased to 48.3 MW.

The Gawłowice Wind Farm is owned by Polenergia Farma Wiatrowa 1 Sp. z o.o., a special purpose vehicle wholly owned by Polenergia.

After commissioning, post-completion monitoring of the impact of operating turbines on birds and bats is carried out in all wind farms. The results of the three-year research program, in line with industry practices and environmental decisions, are sent to the competent authorities as well as to the municipalities where the projects are located. In the case of WF Gawłowice, no negative impact on the study of animal species was found.

All emissions are subject to environmental supervision and are covered by appropriate sector permits and agreements. This applies to acoustic emissions, electromagnetic fields as well as waste management by own service and external services as well as water and sewage management.

In 2020, no penalties were imposed on the company, and no inspection took place at its premises.

After the turbines were built, birds and bats were tested in the years 2015, 2016 and 2018, and the research reports, after collecting and analyzing the data, were each time submitted to the administration authorities. The monitoring showed that the wind farm does not adversely affect birds and bats, the breeding avifauna in its area is medium abundant, and the number of breeding bird species has remained at a similar level since its construction. The local communities (consultation point in the commune) and the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection were informed about each year of research and their results. The last annual monitoring cycle took place in 2018. In 2019, the final research reports were submitted for analysis and approval by the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection. In July 2019, the Director of the Regional Directorate of Environmental Protection in Bydgoszcz approved the received documents, stating no significant negative impact of the investment on ornithofauna and chiropterofauna and compliance with the conditions set out in the environmental decision and with the guidelines.

The first stage of WF Gawłowice was put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2014. In accordance with the environmental decision, post-construction noise measurements were carried out in November 2014 and in the period February-March 2015. The measurements were made by a certified subcontractor EKO-POMIAR. Based on the results, there were no exceedances, both during the day and at night. In January 2016 (within the required period of eighteen months from the start of the Wind Farm), the results of the abovementioned acoustic analysis were submitted to the competent authorities, i.e .:

  • Provincial Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Toruń (WIOŚ),
  • Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Bydgoszcz (RDOS),
  • Poviat Sanitary Inspectorate in Grudziądz (SANEPID),
  • Poviat Starost in Grudziądz,
  • To the Head of the City and Commune of Radzyń Chełmiński.
